A performance about the power of teamwork, believing in ourselves, and the abilities we all have within us.
Although written by L. Frank Baum at the beginning of the last century, The Wizard of Oz goes beyond a simple fairy tale. It remains timeless, captivating readers of all ages as it explores themes such as the strength we carry within us, the value of the journey towards our goals, friendship, collaboration, and the search for belonging.
At the heart of the story lies the importance of companionship, the “safe place” where everyone feels accepted and manages to find what they think they are missing, simply by bringing it out from within themselves!
Eleni Vlachou, who has adapted and directed the production, and Ilias Vamvakousis, who composed the music, recreate this fascinating story with delightful surprises, a magical atmosphere, suspense, unexpected comic moments, and moving scenes. The performance features the set design of acclaimed scenographer Thaleia Melissa and the enchanting costumes of recently award-winning costume designer Eirini Georgakila, winner of the 2025 Costume Design Award of the Association of Theatre and Performing Arts Critics.
The adventures of little Dorothy in the Land of Oz come to life on stage, together with the Scarecrow, who needs a brain for his straw head, the Tin Woodman, who is searching for a heart for his tin body, and the Cowardly Lion, who is looking for courage. Live original music with songs, humor, and interactive video projections come together in a performance that moves between the realism of the present and the absolute magic of the classic fairy tale.
