The charismatic Simon Höfele compiles and presents a delightful programme of great 20th century chamber music works that showcase the brilliant sound of the trumpet. One of the most acclaimed soloists of the younger generation, Höfele records for Berlin Classics, has major international collaborations to his credit, and in 2020 won the OPUS KLASSIK, Germany’s top classical music prize. For his appearance at the Mezzara, he easily traverses the distances and different influences between the music of Enescu, Takemitsu and Gershwin, bringing out the virtuosic potential of the instrument; sometimes elegiac and sharp, sometimes introspective and lyrical, the trumpet in the contemporary repertoire wins over the audience with its versatility and expressive power.
