Three concerts by a historic orchestra. The St. Petersburg Philharmonic is the oldest symphony orchestra in Russia (founded in 1882) and one of the world’s leading musical ensembles. Since 1988 its Artistic Director has been Yuri Temirkanov (winner of the Abbiati Prize in 2003 and 2007), who will be conducting the orchestra on 22-23 November. At the third concert (24 November) he will hand over his baton to Nikolai Alexeev, a distinguished member of the younger generation of conductors.
