Megaron the Athens Concert Hall is a member of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO), a network that brings together some of the major concert halls in Europe. Each year, ECHO selects young and exceptionally gifted artists who give concerts as its Rising Stars in the network’s member concert halls. The ECHO Rising Stars series has existed since 1995 and has shaped the musical careers of many of today’s world-class artists.
Megaron welcomes the great violinist Diana Tishchenko, whose excellent performance at the Delos concert last summer made her a favourite of the Greek public. The Ukrainian violinist has won first prizes in prestigious and highly demanding international competitions, such as the Long-Thibaut Competition in Paris, the David Oistrakh Competition in Moscow and the ARD Music Competition in Munich. In her Megaron concert, she appears together with Argentinian pianist José Gallardo, presenting an imaginative programme with works for violin and piano by composers such as Ravel, Gershwin, Debussy, Kreisler and others.
