The Underground Youth Orchestra welcomes a distinguished pianist: Dora Bakopoulou performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488, under the direction of Catherine Larsen Maguire.
The sought-after British conductor returns to Greece to lead the orchestra in a program that also includes a Greek premiere: the Overture from Ethel Smyth’s opera The Wreckers. The English composer was one of the most original and provocative voices in both the musical and political spheres in Britain.
The program concludes with a… enigma: Sir Edward Elgar’s famous Enigma Variations, Op. 36.
