In recent years, the pipe organ has been attracting an ever-growing audience in Greece. While the imposing grand organ of the Christos Lambrakis Hall may be more familiar to the wider public, its smaller “sibling” is equally captivating.
This portable organ, specially designed for flexibility and for performing continuo alongside orchestras and ensembles, is a remarkable instrument with refined, delicate tones — ideal for revealing the richness of early music.
Megaron opens the doors of the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall to audiences eager to discover at close range the impressive possibilities of this portable instrument. Guiding this musical journey is Megaron’s organist Ourania Gassiou, an accomplished and inspired soloist with an active international career. Together with the Camerata, she performs some of the most striking organ concertos — landmark works of the Baroque repertoire — by the great composer Georg Friedrich Händel.
