With over one hundred and twenty works, Lubomyr Melnyk, one of the greatest pianists and composers of our time, is the “father” of a new piano language called “Continuous Music”. It is a new technique that requires high-level skills which can release the instrument’s “natural voice”. Melnyk’s music has its roots in classical piano. He has been influenced by composers such as Liszt and Brahms, yet the influence of Eastern philosophy and minimalist music was equally important for him. The result is a musical hybrid, a particular mix of modern “romantic” harmonies and melodic material.
