Trio El Greco

Overview
From the mature, introverted German romanticism of Brahms and the more extroverted music of Dvořák, which draws on the Czech folk music tradition, to the moody style of Armenian composer Babadjanian, the ever-active Trio El Greco presents a less frequently visited side of the repertoire for piano trio, revealing unexpected similarities between these quite different composers. What all three works in tonight’s programme have in common is the tight, energetic and full of vigour interaction between the instruments, their melodiousness and the unfolding of the composers’ innermost musical ideas in the context of a feverish and honest musical dialogue.
